This Saturday, the wonderful Hatch on Oxford Road will host some of Manchester’s best and brightest illustrators for a one of a kind Block Party.
The idea is that Hatch will give visitors the chance to be ‘in the room’ with some of the best artistic talents Manchester can offer who will be there to share wisdom and perhaps hand over some advice to those wanting to get into the industry.
Hatch has announced these talents will be Ben Newman (creator of Professor Astro Cat, with clients including Google, Tate Modern and The New Yorker), Dan Woodger (Google, Pepsi and The New York Times), James Wignall (clients include OFFF Fest, American Express and Southern Comfort) and Jing Zhang (D&AD Judge 2018, with clients includingNintendo & Ford).
The Block Party is a get together, an opportunity for the illustration community to come together and share ideas, insight and experience.
The day will be run in 2 main parts. First there will be a range of Q&A’s with the artists. This will consist of an in-depth, group discussion about their experience, how they’ve got to where they are, their areas of focus, thoughts on the industry and what gets them out of bed in the morning.
It’s not a panel or a presentation, Hatch also wants to hear your views and will be asking everyone to chip in. The featured illustrators are all excited to share some insights and gain some from you in return.
For the second part of the Block Party Hatch wants to give YOU the opportunity to sit down and have a personal, 15-minute 1-2-1 with one of the featured illustrators.
You can bring work to talk through or just have a coffee and a chat, but ultimately THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY to gain some personalised insight from some incredibly experienced people.
There will also be independent food stalls onsite, selling some of the best street food known to man, alongside the OL Beer Brewery and a fully stocked bar with many other fine beverages.
The Crazy Animal Face Soundsystem will also be in full effect across the day, with DJs from the Legendary Manchester set up The Electric Chair making an appearance at 4pm.
Sold? Thought so. Tickets start at £16.76 and are available now.
