HOME ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON OF THEATRE, ART & FILM OCT 2015 – MAR 2016
HOME, Manchester’s international centre for contemporary visual art, theatre and film, today, 10 September, announced the full programme of its new season from October 2015 to March 2016. It features an impressive array of new commissions, productions, collaborations and site-specific work that continues to put the organisation at the forefront of the international arts scene.
SEASON HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
· director Blanche McIntyre’s bold reimagining of The Oresteia in a translation by Ted Hughes, with the cast playing multiple roles across genders and featuring a 50+ local community volunteer chorus
· the UK première of HOME’s Christmas production Inkheart, adapted from award-winning author Cornelia Funke’s best-selling fantasy novel for children
· a new version of Macbeth, reuniting director Carrie Cracknell and choreographer Lucy Guerin and starring Anna Maxwell Martin and John Heffernan, who together create a new, dance-infused version of Shakespeare’s popular supernatural tragedy
· an epic large-scale performance by leading experimental theatre company Quarantine, HOME’s Associate Company, who will present the world première of Summer. Autumn. Winter. Spring. – an extraordinary quartet of work about our relationship with time
· a visit by internationally acclaimed artist Philippe Quesne who premières his stunning, witty and ground-breaking masterpiece La Mélancolie des Dragons in the UK, combining performance and visual art
· a major group exhibition of new commissions in moving image, sculpture, print and performance based on Todd Haynes’ influential masterpiece Safe
· the world première of Incidents of Travel in the Multiverse, critically acclaimed artist duo AL and AL’s new multimedia production including film, drawing, installation and live concert hall performance with music by Philip Glass
· the return of world-class dance group Hofesh Shechter Company presenting their completed trilogy Barbarians
· an exciting mix of cleverly curated film seasons including James Benning: People and Places, Jim Allen: Still Relevant After All These Years, and From Caligari to Hitler: Weimar Cinema
