Iconic Manchester images captured by students.
Photography students from the University of Salford have captured their own iconic images of Manchester to raise money for charity.
The photographs taken by Melanie Ward-Hunt, Richard Meftah, Riad Ariane, Tom Perkins, Emma Seed and Sophie Taylor-Wood were chosen by the Royal Bank of Scotland for its calendar in aid if the Prince’s Trust.
They include a swan on Salford Quays at dusk, a daytime image of the Beetham Tower taken from Castlefield, and the tower as it’s seen at night from the Bridgewater Canal.
The calendar was the first assignment for the students who began the BA Photography course when it was launched in the autumn.
Course leader Lawrence George Giles said: “The students are only at the beginning of the course but their talent shines through. The photographs really do capture the essence of Manchester.
“To date the calendar sales have raised over £10,000 for the Prince’s Trust’s programmes which support young people by helping them to build the life they choose.”
An exhibition of the final 12 shortlisted photographs is on display for two months in the foyer of Centenary building at Adelphi Campus.
