This month Manchester’s Finest are championing local charity RECLAIM, an award winning leadership and mentoring scheme.

The project empowers young people aged 12-16 from the most pressurised neighbourhoods to make positive changes in their communities, develop their self belief and aspiration, and also engage directly with the decision makers influencing their lives. The charity have been nominated for the Co-op Revolution and need a huge amount of votes to win £5,000, which will go a long way to helping young people in Manchester realise their own potential and develop skills such as public speaking and leadership.

Have a look at www.reclaimproject.org.uk for more info about RECLAIM projects and the aims behind the charity, and don’t just take our word for it, here’s what one of their young people had to say:

“Reclaim has made myself more positive about my life, I aint a lonely person anymore now, knowing I have friends who are there for me” – Jonathon, 13

Please vote for them here:  www.co-operative.coop

Also, if you’re feeling inspired and want to find out more about the project, who they’ve worked with and case studies about some of their young people, they have just had a book published complete with DVD for only £12.00. All the money raised goes directly to support the charity and you get a fantastic book written by Len Grant, an amazing freelance writer and photographer based in Manchester.

See – www.lengrant.co.uk and www.axisgraphicdesign.co.uk for details about the book.
