Capital & Centric invite the public to Crusader Mill later this month for Rogue Artist’s annual Open Studios event to celebrate their 21st birthday, set to be bigger and better than ever before…
With support from Capital & Centric, Rogue Artists Studios (Rogue) are set to host their biggest event yet – as the artists celebrate their 21st anniversary but also their last Open Studios at Crusader Mill. This is the final opportunity for visitors to see this remarkable building and meet some of Manchester’s most talented emerging and established artists. Since purchasing Crusader Mill last year, Capital & Centric have supported Rogue in their quest to find a new home, as the stunning Grade II listed building will be transformed into beautiful apartments in 2017. The Open Studios will be the final party before they close and Capital & Centric have been major supporters of Rogues’ events throughout the year, with this one being the best.

discover art and artists in a great environment.”
The Open Studios, will be a whole weekend of activity – launching on Friday 14th October at 6pm with the artists’ preview, and then Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-5pm. The purpose of the event is to give the public an insight into artists in their natural environment. With a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, visitors will have unrestricted access, being able to view, buy and discuss pieces with the creators themselves.
Rogue is the largest artists studios in the North and hosts over 90 artists who create a vast range of work from daring installations and interesting performance art to paintings, sculptures and photography – there is something for everyone.
“People are used to seeing art in galleries or exhibition spaces . This is an opportunity for the public to view art in different environment and a chance to meet and speak with some of the best artists in the UK ” says Martin Nash, co-director of Rogue Artists Studios.
Not only will the artists be opening their doors, Rogue Project Space will present “Excuse me While I Am Changing” a new exhibition of work by Matthew Bamber, Linder Hemmersback, Hannah Leighton-Boyce and Michelle Shields, curated by Lucy Harvey which responds to the shifting spaces that surround the studios.
In addition to this, Rogue Cinema will also present a programme of film and moving image works throughout the weekend.
Admission is free, with visitors being able to purchase some of Manchester’s finest street food and drinks at the event. Visitors of all ages are welcome, unfortunately access is only via multiple staircases, so there is no disabled access into the building.
