New series of script writing classes launched.

A new series of recession busting, script writing classes from Primary Creations, the script school based in central Manchester are being launched this September, including a 6 week introduction to the basics of scriptwriting for screen, by the end of which, participants will have written a ten minute short film.

Primary Creations was set up by Beth McCann, the Director of Manchester’s successful fringe festival, Not Part Of…., over five years ago and her script school has supported hundreds of budding writers, Beth says, ‘Writing can be a lonely task, so these sessions give people the opportunity to bounce ideas off other people and learn the craft of script writing in a fun, informal environment.’ Beth keeps the classes purposely low in cost, at £59.50 for the two hour, six week sessions; Beth also runs more advanced Script Development classes at £49.50 for six weekly two hour sessions.

‘Some people come to Primary Creations with no experience, others come with MAs in script writing and produced films and plays under their belt; but that is the beauty of Primary Creations, it is open to anyone with an interest in script writing and as my passion is nurturing new talent and enthusiasm, I have established Primary Creations so that it is affordable to anyone with an interest in screenwriting, as many other script writing courses can be enormously expensive.” Continues Beth.

Janet Harrison, who attended Primary Creation classes with no experience of script writing and went onto to write and produce her own short comedy film ‘Master Motivator’, starring the 90s exercise guru Derrick Evans – aka Mr Motivator, says, ‘The Screenwriting course from Primary Creations enabled me to take my dream of scriptwriting for film and make it a reality.  It helped that the sessions were fairly informal and I built a really great set of friends with the other people who attended the course, it was a perfect option as a start point to (hopefully) my film career and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.’

Ben Bone was also a screenwriting novice when he started Beth’s classes, now he attends Leeds University’s Northern Film School, ‘The sessions were friendly, engaging and a safe environment to experiment with ideas and develop stories, and it is a great support network for feedback for every level of writer.’

Introduction to Script Writing starts in the evenings on Tuesday 6th September and Wednesday 5th October, 6 weekly two hour sessions at £59.50

Script Development classes start on Monday 5th September, 6 weekly two hour sessions at £49.50.
