Award-winning Disney Musical The Lion King is embarking on its first ever UK tour and will be making Manchester it’s home for Christmas as it plays the Palace Theatre from 6th December till 31st March 2013.THE LION KING has been seen by over 65 million people worldwide since its Broadway premiere in 1997, and it will soon welcome it’s 10th millionth visitor at the Lyceum theatre in London. With a company of 52, the show will visit 10 cities in the UK & Ireland over two and a half years, with further dates to be announced.

Disney’s THE LION KING, is of course based on the much-loved animated film and was entrusted to Director and Co-Designer Julie Taymor to adapt for the stage. Taymor brought a vast array of disciplines to the production which draws upon her immeasurable experience of various theatrical styles and cultures to tell the compelling tale of Simba, the young lion cub, as he journeys through life and struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role of King.
