Horrible week this week, so let’s try and move on. There’s a big bank holiday with tons going on and then after, I’ve picked a selection of things to get your teeth into….
End of May Bank Holiday
There’s loads of stuff going on this weekend and here is a round up that I made earlier. As you can see there’s some massive parties including the brilliant Solis Street Party on Sunday, The Refuge Electric Weekender all week and Trof celebrating their 10th Birthday. On top of this we have The Courteeners heading to Lancashire Cricket Club and even that Erasure lot heading to Albert Hall. If you can’t find something to do over your extended weekend then you need to take a long hard look at yourself mister.
Gold Teeth Bank Holiday Special

I didn’t include this in my bank holiday round up because I’ve only just found out about it now – but it looks like you lucky people have a Gold Teeth special to go to at Odd in the NQ on Sunday night. From 8 til ‘late’ you can get involved in the free party with plenty of Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, Garage and Disco to keep you dancing all night. It’s a legendary night and always guaranteed to be mint so I don’t need to waste my time convincing you to go – so I won’t.

He might look like a mild-mannered RE teacher, but Jon Richardson, as anyone who has ever watched 8 Out of 10 Cats will know is a pretty decent comedian with a bit of an ‘every man’ vibe to him. He usually makes me giggle while on telly, which is pretty rare so he can’t be too bad. He arrives at The Lowry on Monday for 3 nights with his new stand up show – there’s still some tickets left so if you’re interested – get involved.

Here we have a play at the Opera House featuring everyone’s favourite actor and singer – Shaun Williamson. His years as Barry Evans cemented him as one of the country’s top performers, with a range that would make Al Pacino shake in his Cuban heels. His voice is fantastic too – his range has such emotion and power that he once sang to a full crowd of about 36 people without a microphone. He stars in Out of Order this week, the blurb is “When a Government Junior Minister plans to spend the evening with one of the Opposition’s typists in the Westminster Hotel, things go disastrously wrong – beginning with the discovery of a body trapped in the hotel’s only unreliable sash window. Desperately trying to get out of an extremely sticky situation, things quickly go from bad to worse.”

Discover Space at Manchester Central
Wednesday 31st May – 1st June
It’s half term this week so not only will the roads be much quieter on the way to work, all visits to the shops or supermarket will be inundated with little scally-wags running around generally annoying the hell out of everyone. It also means that there’s plenty of half term activities for kids going on – most of them pretty rubbish – except Discover Space at Manchester Central (the old GMEX). It’s a free event with a load of educational, hands-on exhibits, talks and showcases to try to inspire and encourage young people to get into science. It’s recommended for families with kids aged between 4 and 16 but I think I’d well enjoy myself and I’m 31 – shame I’ll be bloody grafting.

General Levy’s Jungle Club

When I was a kid I always thought Jungle music was just the sound of crickets and monkeys and general animal noises where people went to clubs to listen to it because they wanted to live in the jungle but couldn’t. This is obviously ridiculous, although when I used to be at Uni I would fall asleep while watching Ricky Gervais: Animals and the menu would play over and over and it would be jungle noises. I had the BEST dreams ever when this happened. Back to the point, General Levy’s Jungle Club is coming to Antwerp Mansion this Wednesday, so give the revision a rest for one night and cruise on round for a top night.
