The nights are getting shorter, the leaves are starting to turn and it is certainly getting cooler. Autumn is well and truly here and that means Halloween is right around the corner…

I love Halloween. It is my favourite holiday of the year hands down. Ever since I was a kid, I loved all the macabre stuff, dressing up and the excessive consumption of sweets, and what’s more is I haven’t let any of these things die in my transition into adulthood.

Granted, you won’t find me dressed up as a witch begging for sweets at your front door on Halloween night. Instead, I get my Halloween sugar fix elsewhere- and this month, I can get my fangs stuck into the Halloween afternoon tea at The Lowry Hotel which is just as sweet, scary and spook-tacular as anything you will find in a pumpkin shaped bucket of sweets.

Savouries include Lancashire cheese and sweet pickle, tuna mayo and compressed cucumber, grilled courgette and crème cheese and my all-time favourite- coronation chicken and cress.

The sandwiches are delicious, but as we move on to the sweets, is where things take an eerie turn. You will find an oozing eyeball of white chocolate and raspberry mousse and a ghostly pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream.

You will also find a sumptuous Devil’s food cake shaped into a coffin with a gravestone which I could not get enough of and a zombie apple and salted caramel doughnut which was bursting with seasonal flavour.

This themed afternoon tea is priced at £29.90 or £33 per person with Prosecco and is available all week long. The Lowry Hotel also offers a wicked 25% off afternoon tea when you book Monday to Thursday. Book your table now!
