Uber will be taking a bite of Manchester’s culinary scene by launching its food delivery service, UberEATS, on Thursday 9th February.

Following its successful UK launch in London last year, the popular food app has chosen Manchester as its second city to deliver restaurant-standard dishes to homes and offices.

An alternative choice to the traditional take-away, UberEATS will be offering food and drink from over 100 top eateries, including firm favourites  Bundobust, The Koffee Pot, Barburrito, Northern Soul Grilled Cheese and The Alchemist.

Using a network of bicycles and mopeds, the service will be serving lunch, dinner and treats to food enthusiasts in central Manchester, including The Northern Quarter and West Didsbury, with plans to expand its zones in the coming months.

Operating in a similar way to the rides service, Mancunians will be able to order dishes from a range of cuisines on the UberEATS app or by visiting ubereats.com, and can then watch their food arrive in real-time via a live map. As well as aiming to deliver in 30 minutes, the food delivery firm is also offering no minimum order size.

Mathieu Proust, Manchester’s general manager at UberEATS, said: “Manchester’s culinary scene is thriving at the moment but until now, you had to visit the restaurant to experience the food and drink. With UberEATS, Mancunian foodies can enjoy dishes from eateries that wouldn’t normally deliver, allowing them to relish in restaurant-worthy food in the comfort of their own homes.”

Simon Potts, managing director at The Alchemist, said: “We’re excited to be one of the first bar and restaurants in Manchester to partner with UberEATS following its success in London. At The Alchemist we have a fantastic all-day menu with delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as nibbles and it’s great to be able to bring that menu to new and familiar customers in such a convenient way.”

Mark Husak, co-founder of Bundobust said: “We’re over the moon to be partnering with UberEATS! The people of Manchester will be able to order the most authentic Indian Street food this side of Mumbai to their homes & offices.  As a new business in the city centre we are always looking at ways of spreading the good word of Bundobust and with UberEATS , we are confident we can reach out to a whole new customer base.”

UberEATS will be available seven days a week, from 11am – 11pm. To find out more, visit the website.
