Curated by one of the minds behind Manchester Digital Music Archive, Abigail Ward as well as Rina Ladybeige (Social Service), Kath McDermott (BBC Radio 6 Music) & Chris Massey Music (Electriks) the party will boast a line-up of upcoming and established female musical souls playing multi-genre party starters in the basement and public bar.

The aim of the Suffragette City Party is to put together a fresh line-up on incredible female talent whilst also raising awareness of the barriers women face in the music industry.

Whilst drawing attention to this, as well as having a bloody good time, this event will be raising money for Women’s Aid to help the dwindling number of women’s shelters in the UK.

Suffragette City Party will take place at The Refuge on Saturday 9th March. The details of the two main events are as follows:

Love Is The Message
2 pm – 1 am In the Refuge Public Bar

This event will be taking place all day in the Public bar and is totally FREE to attend. Don’t bother getting a ticket, just turn up and bring your dancing shoes. Expect sets from Denise Johnson (ACR), DJ Paulette, SNO, BB (Supernature Disco), Reeshy, KIRBY UK, Emma Joyce (Disco Mums), Abs Ward, Marley Reid and  Alex Zalewska.

Move Ya Body
10 pm – 4 am In The Refuge Basement hosted by The Social Service

This event will be taking place in the downstairs basement and bar. You do not need an advance ticket for this event either, but you will be asked for a donation on the door which will be gifted to the Women’s Aid chairty. Expect sounds from Danielle Moore (Crazy P), Kath McDermott, Rina Ladybeige, Julie Wills and Kim Lana Blackburn
