After a hugely successful debut, Creatures Comedy Festival is back, hosting over 40 shows from household names to rising stars. Presented by Manchester’s only seven-night-a-week comedy club, the festival will focus on creating a space outside of London for acts to preview before Edinburgh, giving Manchester residents access to shows right before they hit the world’s biggest arts festival in August.
Taking place from 15 to 26 July, the festival is dedicated to bringing the best comics to Manchester, showcasing local talent, celebrating the city’s growing comedy scene and establishing Manchester as the UK’s next big comedy destination.
Acts announced on this year’s bumper line-up include Chloe Petts, Larry Dean, Katie Norris, Jack Carroll, Rob Copand and Alison Spittle. Also popping into the mix are Rachel Kaly, Rachel Galvo, Alex Franklin, Tadiwa Mahlunge and Hannah Byczkowski.
On Sunday 20 July, the festival will host its Northern Takeover Day, dedicated to showcasing comics from this neck of the woods. The day will kick off with a live podcast recording of Proper Rank hosted by Brennan Reece and Danny McLoughlin. The recording will be followed by acts Rob Auton, Jack Carroll and Best In Class – an award-winning showcase spotlighting working class comedians. The Northern Takeover day will then conclude with the finals for the very first Creatures Comedy Competition, with the winner performing on the final day of the festival after being crowned the Best Comic in the North West.
