AngloThai is a London based restaurant drawing influences from owner John’s bicultural heritage, Thai and British. With experience of cooking throughout UK, Europe, Asia and North America the menus at AngloThai focus on low-intervention, natural wines and small-batch producers throughout everything they do.

Modal Wines will be pouring an exceptional array of wines from his portfolio with a focus on fresh and juicy selections to match the level of spice found in the food menu.

Guests can expect a 5-course set menu, beginning with a wood-fired oyster snack with ‘prik laab’ aged beef fat and three cornered leek.

For a second snack, AngloThai are serving up what is arguably the most tender, juicy and succulent pork there is, welsh mangalitza sasauge in fermented rice. The dish is served with Thai’s most popular chilli, that literally translates to ‘mouseshit chilli‘ but we’re promised doesn’t taste anything like it and also a serving of raw green mango.

To start, a salted cod served with an intensely fragrant and flavourful fish sauce caramel and coriander stems. There is also a grilled pork neck dish with sea buckthorn and herbal salad.

For mains, mussels in coconut cream with pickled garlic and Thai basil served with steam jasmine rice.

And finally, for dessert, Granny Smith apple, lemon verbena chilli sugar served with alphonso mango sorbet and sweet fermented sticky rice.

Expect unique wines with the right mix of edge, character, balance, and drinkability – at times surprising, but always thoroughly enjoyable.
