Cooking homemade Indian food is always a momentous task. The pre-cooking wander around Aldi, scouring the place for elachi powder and fenugreek and finally settling on a jar of Patak’s and a packet of chicken can be a fairly depressing experience.

If you do manage to find the ingredients, though, and create a delicious masterpiece, it’s a very rewarding process! And if, like me, you feel as though you need to brush up on your spice combinations and general skills as a chef, then Zouk is holding a number of events over the next couple of months to grow your confidence in the kitchen.

The cookery school was set up for curry lovers to come along and learn the ropes from Zouk’s expert chefs. Over the years, the classes have grown in popularity attracting people from across the UK keen to try their hand traditional Indian cooking, and the early 2022 calendar is looking pretty exciting, too.

Firstly, and back by popular demand, the 22nd January (this Saturday) will see Zouk hold its British Favourites class. In this session you’ll learn how to make Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kebabs, Onion Bhajis, Lamb Rogan Josh, and a Chicken Tikka Masala using all traditional Indian techniques.

On the 5th and 26th of February, Zouk is hosting a Punjabi Masterclass where you’ll learn how to cook some more complex dishes including the Samosa Chaat, a sweet dish made with chickpeas, samosa, chutneys, yoghurt and pomegranate, as well as a Punjabi Lollipop, Lamb Chops, Lamb Karhahi, Chicken Jalfrezi.

On the 12th February the destination is Southern India, and Zouk’s chef will show you how to make Black Pepper Chicken Fry, Spiced Prawns, Chicken Xacuti and a Lamb Biryani. On the 19th February, the class is an exploration of Zouk’s signature dishes. This line-up consists of the Chilo Kebab, Chooza Chaat, Crispy Calamari, Lamb Biryani and Butter Chicken.
