Renaker, the developer behind the Great Jackson Street masterplan, has revealed plans to build Manchester’s tallest building, the Lighthouse. The 71-storey tower, which would feature a restaurant on its 71st floor, would surpass South Tower at Deansgate Square and become the UK’s tallest building outside of London.

Designed by SimpsonHaugh Architects, the next phase of the Great Jackson Street masterplan would include four more towers, two 47 storeys and two 51 storeys, delivering a total of 2,388 homes across 1.2 acres, including DeTrafford’s former Transition site. The scheme would bring the total number of homes at Great Jackson Street to over 7,000.

Public consultation on the proposal is open until 20th February, giving Manchester residents the chance to provide feedback and learn more about the plans at greatjacksonstreet-consult.co.uk. With its towering height, the Lighthouse would become a new landmark for the city, transforming Manchester’s skyline and offering stunning views from the restaurant.
