New Chorlton neighbourhood restaurant, Indian Affair has recently opened on Barlow Moor Road, setting the benchmark for home cooked global cuisine in the suburb.
Owned by husband and wife duo Harshit and Natasha, who have hand-picked all of the dishes on the menu from family recipes and childhood restaurants, Indian Affair serves a fusion of authentically contemporary small plates made for sharing.
An avid chef, Harshit found himself longing for tastes and flavours from back home, often recreating dishes for his family that he couldn’t find anywhere else in Manchester.
It was from this that the couple decided to open the restaurant, and it’s the personal element that makes Indian Affair so special. It’s evident that so much time, effort and dedication has gone into every single dish, it all comes out in the eatery’s depth of flavour and spice selection.
With a focus on small plates, the menu is made for people wanting to try a bit of everything and with dishes prived from just £5 – £12 that’s entirely possible here.
The Palak Chaat steals the show at Indian Affair, and it’s Natasha’s favourite dish on the menu, too. The crispy spinach fritters have been drizzled with yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney, a unique blend of sweet and sour.
The Leshuni Tandoori Prawns are also a must-try – huge tiger prawns have been marinated in garlic and garam masala. There’s so much going on flavour wise here and every bite sees you embark on a different journey.
For meat-lovers, the Lamb Nihari is another delicious option. It’s a whole lamb shank that’s been slow-cooked in an aromatic gravy filled with ginger and fresh chilli. It falls with the touch of a fork.
The restaurant also serves up Delhi twists on traditional cocktails like their Rose & Raspberry Sour and Coconut Martinis, and there’s an extensive selection of Indian wines and gins available, too.
The entirety of Indian Affair’s menu is reflective of North Indian cuisine cooked authentic Delhi-style. It’s inspired by the city’s diverse flavours and home-style cooking.
The restaurant is open now, Monday 5pm – 10pm, Thursday 5pm – 10pm, Friday & Saturday 1pm – 5.30pm and 5pm – 10pm Sunday.
