With a particular focus on nutrition and wellness for your four-legged friends.

By Emma Davidson | December 21st '21

Located just off Murray Street in Ancoats, Sticks & Socks stock all things beneficial and nutritional for your four-legged friend.

Owner Alice has a real passion for the well-being of animals, and it’s clear with the products you’ll find here, with everything from traditional leads, to plastic free poo bags and high-end dog food, the store will be a hit with the folk of Ancoats and their fancy dogs.

If you’re into dressing up your pooch, they’ve got a wide selection of hand-made and organic dog outfits. You can even get a matching set for yourself too!

The candles are non-toxic and poo bags biodegradable, keeping to the wellness theme. Alice has handpicked the food stocked here, too, with every meal having health benefits and nutritional value.

With the puppy love boom of the pandemic still in full swing, it is now estimated that the majority of people in the North have a canine companion, as the BBC recently reported that 3.2 million pets were bought across the UK during lockdown.

Back in February, Manchester was also named the second best place in the UK for dogs to live. OnBuy Pet Supplies created an index of six factors which can determine the level of happiness of our furry friends, applying it to different towns/cities in the country.

The six factors analyse the number of parks, pet-friendly accommodations, pet shops, dog grooming places and dog vs cat population – these factors were added together in order to achieve an overall score for each city.

Swansea (333) came first, closely followed by Manchester (318), Plymouth (318), Blackpool (304) and Belfast (286).

Sticks & Socks is open right now; stacked with lots of treats and toys, that are eco-friendly, natural and handmade with proceeds from some of the items sold also go to a local dog charity.

Sticks & Socks is open now, Tue-Sun 10-6pm.
