Fans of meat, cheese and wine – you’re in for a treat as The Butcher’s Quarter have now opened up a brand-new located down on Deansgate Mews, adding to the burgeoning list of excellent food and drink operators heading to the criminally underused space.

I think its fair to say that The Butcher’s Quarter have been absolutely smashing it these last couple of years down on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter, offering up not just the highest quality meat but also natural wines, craft beers, local cheeses, groceries, preserves and SO much more. Not forgetting their sandwiches, occasional BBQs and tasting events of course.

All of their produce is sourced from the finest artisan suppliers and small dedicated producers, many of which are ‘one man/women bands’ or family businesses that have been doing their craft for many years.

For example, their beef comes from 2 farms in Cheshire – only 25 miles from the shop, and their lamb comes from Great House Farm in Helmshore in Lancashire, a 300-acre farm run by brothers John and Richard who have perfected their craft over the last 25 years.

Cheese is supplied with help from Iain Mellis, a man who has worked in the cheese industry for almost 40 years and sources the finest, high quality cheeses from across the UK. Wines are mainly supplied by Kate Goodman at Reserve Wines.

With their arrival at Deansgate Mews, they’ve joined the excellent 3 Hands Deli, and the upcoming MEWS from the team behind Alvarium and Black Leaf in the Northern Quarter.

Graeme Hogg said “We’re extremely excited to launch our second shop at the Great Northern Warehouse, to offer the people of Manchester fresh, delicious meats, cheeses and wines.

“The Butcher’s Quarter guarantees great quality produce alongside an unforgettable experience, so it felt only right to join forces with the Great Northern, which is already home to a vibrant and ever-expanding set of independent local businesses.”

The Butcher’s Quarter is open Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 7pm
