A new street food village has been announced for Wigan town centre. STACK, a company which repurposes old buildings and shipping containers, is set to take over the old Debenhams store in Wigan’s Grand Arcade.
The proposed development will include a mix of bars and street food traders, as well as space for hosting live music and entertainment.
According to the plans, the offering will accommodate up to 2000 people and be open seven days a week. It will see the creation of a new frontage at Concert Square, making a new access point, as well as space for outdoor seating.
The group already run successful street food villages in Newcastle and Sunderland, both sites popular with families and foodies. The company is also revitalising the old Hatch spot on Oxford Road, which was once home to traders including Herbivorous, Pukht and House of Habesha.

The new venue is set to focus on supporting small businesses in its range of street food vendors, providing a platform for local traders to expand, or launch a new concept.
The opening date for STACK Wigan will be confirmed after planning permission has been granted and the construction of the project is complete.
