The most perfect winter treat? Sicilian’s Arancino

I’ve never been to Sicily but for those who are missing out on authentic Sicilian food, look no further – you can actually now get it delivered right to your door.

Pretty much the entire menu at the brilliant Sicilian NQ is now available for delivery and collection everyday until 8:30pm.

Now it’s absolutely arctic, giant cheesy deep-fried arancini balls are pretty much an obvious dinner time treat.

There are six different arancino to choose from, four of which are suitable for vegetarians. My personal fave the Aranacino Spinach (£6.30) comes stuffed to bursting with spinach and cheese served on a sweet pepper puree.

For mains, there’s all the usual Italian delights including Lasagna Bolognese (£10.35) and Gnocchi alla Siciliana (£11.25).

Gnocchi alla Siciliana.

For a really nice heart-warming meal there’s the Gatto di Patate (£10.80); named from the French ‘gateau’ – it’s a Sicilian savoury potato cake made of mashed potatoes enriched with eggs, butter and cheese, topped with Sicilian’s signature homemade ragu.

Alternatively, there’s my new favourite thing –  Gnocchi Bolognese (£11.25) which combines a hearty slow-cooked homemade beef ragu with fresh gnocchi. Perfect-o!

There’s plenty of sweets too if you’re after some Cannolo, the most famous Sicilian dessert in the world, alongside some more ‘unique’ offerings that you certainly won’t find anywhere else in the city. Such as the Sette veli Pistacchio (£6.30) or ‘Sicilian Cake’ – a seven layered delight coated in a fabulous pistachio glaze.
