The magnificent, terracotta Grade II listed building has a history that dates back to 1890 when it first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters!

The spot on Oxford Road is known for The Refuge by Volta, where guests can sit back and relax for a drink or a gorgeous meal – which we already know and adore.

All 270 loft-style bedrooms (suites, doubles, double-doubles, you name it) are completely unique and were designed to make the most of the striking triple-height ceilings, and boy are they big.

The Kimpton Clocktower features original, period features throughout like the glazed bricks, tiles and faience, stunning stained glass, carved marble staircases and loads more.

Not forgetting the three-metre tall 100% bronze horse by Sophie Dickens which greets you in the massive lobby (which beautifully denotes a horse-and-carriage ‘turning circle’ that once stood on the spot!).

Steeped in Manchester culture throughout, guest rooms even offer homage to our music scene with super cute vinyl records and players.

Each room borrows design inspiration from the spirited and renowned Manchester music scene with bright, bespoke textiles featuring the iconic Manchester worker bee and contemporary artworks throughout the interior.

There are so many signature perks, you’ll even find in-room yoga mats in each loft!

The guys offer a super helpful ‘Forgot it? We’ve Got It!’ service offering all your essentials and more. Those looking to explore Manchester on two wheels can also borrow a Kimpton-branded bike free of charge!

The best part? The Kimpton Clocktower is completely pet friendly (if it fits in the lift, it can stay!) maybe don’t bring your alpaca though.

There’s also a brand new florist, Giraffe Flowers, just set up shop by the main entrance of the Kimpton. Be sure to go and say hello (well, from behind your mask).

Double rooms at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel start from just £120 and include a Full English Brekkie, go on, get yourself booked in.
