As part of Push Festival 2020, join HOME for the much anticipated Manchester Open Exhibition 2020, open every day until Sunday 29th March.
In keeping with HOME’s belief that everyone is an artist, the talent on show includes those who may identify as artists and those who may not.
From established professionals to inspiring amateurs and first-timers, the exhibition brings together a varied mix of stunning and challenging works from Manchester’s most promising talent.
The Open Exhibition welcomed submissions from individuals of any background and level of experience in Greater Manchester. The team also hosted numerous Open Roadshows across community centres in Manchester in order to find the best that Manchester had to offer.
The response was immense, with over 2,000 submissions received by the selection committee, made up of art experts and community representatives.
“There are amazing artists all around Greater Manchester creating wonderful work, many of whom do not even consider themselves artists. Our roadshow and the numerous visits we have made to different groups has aimed to tap into this talent, to unearth new and inspiring artists we can now champion. The Manchester Open will be a beautiful snapshot of what the artists of Greater Manchester are creating right now.” – Community and Outreach Programme Producer at HOME, Anne Louise Kershaw.
Located in HOME’S Gallery, viewers have approximately 500+ artworks to look forward to.
The first to host a region-wide exhibition of this type, HOME’s celebration of diversity and the inclusion of individuals from a broad range of backgrounds has been an inspiring and exciting move for Manchester’s ever-growing culture and has encouraged creativity and engagement within the arts.
The Manchester Open Exhibition 2020 will have a few awards up for grabs, including The Manchester Open People’s Choice Award (chosen by attendees of the exhibition) and the exciting bOlder Greater Manchester Prize – which will be awarded to an emerging artist aged 50+, as part of the Great Place GM Project.
All awards will form part of an Artist Development Package, which will be tailored to the needs and requirements of each recipient (including research and travel opportunities and studio rent!).
Join HOME for the most exciting and promising collection of works Manchester has to offer this 2020!
