Manchester Young Professionals (MYP) have begun the process of their third MYP Mentoring scheme, a free and accessible cross-industry initiative that aims to help people develop and build up networking within the community.
This is the opportunity for you to work with and take advice from someone outside your business and maybe even outside your industry, all with the idea to progress towards your future goals
2020 and 2021 brought many challenges, with one of the biggest of these being connecting individuals in the city. This initiative sought to overcome this, with applicants expanding their personal and professional network all the while receiving guidance and support along the way.
Since launching at the start of 2021 during the pandemic, the mentoring initiative has already advanced the careers of many talented individuals by giving mentees access to advice from experienced mentors, as well as providing mentors with the platform to advance their leadership skills and qualities.
After establishing a scheme that has so far united over 140 incredible pairings, there’s been some fantastic feedback from both mentors and mentees. It goes without saying that the MYP Mentoring scheme continues to be a great success!
As an MYP Mentor you’ll be paired up with someone who you can support, and impact directly on the future development of Manchester’s young professional community. You can also connect with a select group of other influential mentors in the Manchester region, opening up key introductions and helping your own progression and inclusion aspirations.
As a Mentee you’ll be assigned a mentor who you have something in common with, be it sector, degree background, university or outside work interests. You’ll be connected with a like-minded progressive individual who can help you first-hand with advice from their career.
Your mentor will help coach you to navigate short-term and long-term objectives in current and prospective future roles, as well as helping you to grow your network and build key long-term connections.
You can apply to be a Mentor, Mentee or both depending on what stage of your career that you’re in. Whether you’re a Trainee or an Undergraduate, Associate or Director. This cohort’s pairings will work together through to the end of 2022, with an expectation of monthly calls and/or in person catch ups.
MYP is all about connecting people, and it will come as no surprise that there will be an event to launch the scheme on Monday 7th August at Bruntwood Bloc. Check out their website for more details on how to get involved with this!
Whether you’re a Trainee or an Undergraduate, Associate or Director, there will be opportunities to develop and also to learn from others in the MYP community.
