A new tower is set to spring upon the edge of Deansgate, and will be home to a massive 300-strong one, two and three-bed apartments.

Following the three-part project plan, redeveloping team Property Alliance Group (PAG) and Starwood Capital have pushed an application to the Manchester city council asking for consent for this new residential element.

The two hundred million pound project will include a bunch of rooftop terraces perfect for some fresh air alongside retail units dotted about on the ground floor – making it quite the multi-functional space.

Cleverly designed by Jon Matthews Architects, the building totalling as over 277,000 square feet has taken a clear influence on the city itself as its location is directly reflected in its design.

The textured sandstone panels are meant to perfectly mimic the façade of the Manchester Cathedral – only a few minutes walk away from this former Renaissance-style hotel.

While the original plans once saw balconies featured on the Cathedral-facing side of the tower, these have since been removed from the plans. Oh well – at least there’s a load of rooftop terraces to make up for it!

What’s more? Included in the designs is an impressive 8,600 square foot area slap bang next to the River Irwell which holds massive potential for future retailers.

From street food vendors to pop-up markets to a cool event space with no shortage of outside seating – this could end up being the new best spot to grab a bite and bev in the great Manchester summertime.

All excitement aside and planning approval dependent – we could have a brand-new addition to our Manchester skyline as early as 2023!
