The Salmon of Knowledge is swimming upstream, with plans to open a new pub in Didsbury.

The site for the new Irish bar will be right in the middle of Didsbury Village, taking over the former Dockyard pub site.

In a teaser post to Instagram, owners said: “You called and we answered. By popular demand, we are expanding to the suburbs, so get ready for live music, great food, live sports, and gallons of Guinness.

“You heard it here first… stay tuned.”

The first Salmon of Knowledge opened on Stevenson Square just last year, in the space formerly taken up by pizza and shuffleboard spot Ply.

It boasts beers and stouts from the celebrated Franciscan Well brewery in Cork, as well as a range of Irish dishes coming from the kitchen, including traditional boxty pancakes.

The Last Stop, from Heaton Chapel, also supply the burgers, and will be setting up shop in the Didsbury outpost too.

“It will be very similar to Stevenson Square,” co-owner Joe Foster told Manchester’s Finest.

“Bringing the good people of Didsbury all the best of The Salmon. Great Guinness, 40 different Irish whiskeys, sport and top flight stouts.

“We will be showcasing our favourite artists who have played over in The Salmon NQ on the new stage, and food from our friends at The Last Stop.”

Joe added that ‘with a fair wind’, the bar should be open in March.
