Twas the roast before Christmas and the Prosecco is free,
Not a creature was sober, not even the tree.
The glasses were filled to the top with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of their drunk parents danced in their heads.
The Sunday Dinner is cooking, the dish we love the most,
There’s nothing like the feeling of being full of Sunday Roast.
When out on the street, the cars make a clatter,
Inside Volta, there’s a smell of Pudding batter.
Away to the window, you dance in a flash,
You’re having a Sunday dinner, a proper Sunday bash.
The oven light on so the feasts on its way,
A shout to the kitchen, table 15 away.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a plate piled high, no nothing here is mere.
With a little young waiter, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles, the main course came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now, roasties! now, carrots! now, gravy in floods!
On, beans! on, cabbage! on, pigs and spuds!
To the table there! to the one by the wall!
Now eat away! Eat away! C’mon eat it all!
