Wood Street Mission

Wood Street Mission, has been providing Christmas support to low-income families in the region for over 150 years across Manchester and Salford.

The charity ensures that no matter what a child’s circumstances they wake up on Christmas day with something special to open.

Last year, the charity donated over 11,000 toys to 4,000 children thanks to local people and businesses who donated presents.

For the first time ever, the Wood Street Missions’ Christmas appeal has been thrown into doubt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Due to this, they face the unthinkable, thousands of children across Manchester and Salford waking up on Christmas Day without a single gift.

Great Northern Warehouse has stepped in to lead a new drop off point and give up their space to house the gifts.

The charity is calling out for anyone who can help during this difficult time and donate new and packed toys for all children.

As we’re in lockdown there’s plenty of ways you can get involved, you can order gifts via their Christmas wish lists, donate directly or fundraise yourself.

Mark Schofield, Centre Director at Great Northern Warehouse added: “We are so pleased to be able to offer space at Great Northern and support the incredible work that Wood Street Mission are doing with local families this Christmas.

“Our team will be doing everything we can to support this essential project and bring some happiness at this incredibly challenging time.”
