Adidas Skateboarding are joining forces with Factory International to bring a 12-day long skateboarding event – called Build Manchester – to Aviva Studios, kicking off next week.

The outdoor space of the huge arts and culture complex is going to be transformed into a temporary, custom-built skate plaza for the duration of the festival, starting on 27 July.

Situated on the banks of the Irwell, right in the heart of the emerging St. John’s neighbourhood, the venue will play host to free skate activities in collaboration with some of Manchester’s most influential skateboarders and skate communities.

The events are set to include open-to-all skate contests, skate schools, product launches, exhibitions, film premieres and workshops. There’ll also be the chance to see Adidas’ global team riders including the likes of Blondey McCoy, Jarrad Carlin, and Nikolai Piombo.

There will also be BBQs, DJ sets, parties and giveaways from the likes of iconic Manchester skate shop Note and not-for-profit skate school ProjektsMCR.

Entry is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s more information about what’s happening on each day here…

Build Manchester is the first event to be announced as part of an ongoing partnership between Adidas and Factory International, which is aiming to foster local talent and creativity.
