As we start the countdown to Pride 2022, which takes place right across the city next weekend, Ancoats Pop Up has announced a special pride market, taking place on the Sunday of the long bank holiday weekend.

Back once again at suburban neighbourhood, Kampus, Ancoats Pop Up brings together some of the city’s best independent creatives, makers and designers for an afternoon of art, music, food and drink – and this time, there’ll be a lot of queer love and LGBTQIA+ positive gifting.

Visitors can expect laid-back live music and drool-inducing pizza slices from Nell’s, as well as Levanter’s outdoor barbecue and Beeswing’s new summer terrace, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine whilst purveying any new purchases.

They’ll also be able to explore the pop-up stalls that will pack Little David Street, the charming cobbled Kampus street recently restored and open to the public for the first time in decades, at what has become a regular fixture on the last Sunday of every month.

The stalls will have everything from home baked goods to bold interiors, vintage clothing, and a range of drinks from local breweries. And, from where you’re sat, you’ll have a great view of the festivities taking place across the opposing Canal Street

Kampus is a collection of old and new buildings, just minutes from Piccadilly Station. The community is set to become home to some of the North West’s most cherished independent brands, with the likes of Cloudwater Brewery, General Store, Madre and Great North Pie set to locate to Kampus very soon.

Speaking of the addition of Ancoats’ Pop Up Markets, Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital&Centric, the company behind the Kampus development, said: “Kampus is all about community, from the residents that rent here to the indie businesses set to call it home. The collaboration with Ancoats Pop Up is a real celebration of Manchester’s creative community, providing a shop window for the small businesses doing awesome things in the city.

“Little David Street had been closed off for years before we restored it, the monthly markets will be a chance for the community to come spend some time in the historic setting and the Kampus gardens, whilst getting behind local creatives.”
