Whether it’s ‘Paid In Full’, Ice Cube’s ‘It Was A Good Day’ or the Daisy Age vibes of De La Soul, you’ll be able to spit rhymes like dimes when Hip Hop Karaoke arrives in Manchester this autumn.

The legendary club night, which will allow you to release your inner Kendrick or your undercover Cardi, is coming to Hello Oriental for one night (well, afternoon) only on October 1, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the greatest music genre on earth.

Launched by DJ Rob Pursey and host Bobby Champagne Jr back in 2001, the phenomenon has travelled the length and breadth of the country, from Glastonbury to the tearing up the Tate Modern.

The crew arrive with over 200 songs in their arsenal from A Tribe Called Quest to Young Thug, with each track coming with a handy ‘difficulty’ star rating – for example, Tribe’s ‘Scenario’ comes with three stars, meaning the the most difficult, while Cypress Hill’s stoner standard ‘Insane In The Brain’ is a walk in the park with one star.

As well as stone cold classics from the vaults, there are also newer cuts from British hip hop artists like Headie One and the Moston maestro himself, Aitch.

It will take up the Sunday brunch spot at Hello Oriental, which is fast becoming known as one of the most raucous sabbath day riots in the city, with its KOMPND events regularly selling out.

Said Pursey: “Hip Hop Karaoke is a euphoric, addictive experience and definitely something to cross off the bucket-list. It’s the public’s chance to experience what it’s like to feel real crowd energy as they take on the rhymes of their favourite rappers.

“I’ve been dying to bring the event to Manchester. The city has an exceptional reputation when It comes to having a party. The Hip Hop Karaoke team have got so many friends and connections in the city, we can’t wait to see that Manchester energy coming through!”

Tickets will go on sale on August 24. You can pre-register to get first access tickets here.
