Taking place in the picturesque setting of Prestwich’s Heaton Park, the Heaton Park Food & Drink Festival is bringing international street food, independent drink, artisan markets and live music across the park’s lush green fields this weekend.
Organised by the team behind The North Leeds Food Festival, which was voted the number one ‘Best Non-Music Festival’ in the UK by the Independent, this Saturday and Sunday will see the park transformed into a huge celebration of internationally influenced local talent – with food and drink at the forefront.
Guests are invited to pull up a deck chair, sip on a cold beer from one of the eight independent bars, and enjoy the sunshine, which will hopefully rear its head once again for the two-day foodie spectacle.
Returning for 2022, the live cookery theatre will host demonstrations in collaboration with the festival’s cookery school partner, seeing top chef’s from across the region showcase their unique culinary skills with a focus on a variety of ingredients and cuisines.
There’ll also be an artisan market featuring fresh produce to take home and cook with, or tuck in to as you wander around the diverse stalls that house everything from brownies to cheeses, cured meats, gourmet fudge and Mediterranean olives from some of the UK’s best producers.
Soundtracking the two-days, there’ll be live-music from local performers spanning jazz, blues, soul, pop and indie, and entertainment will be provided by the mind-bending talents of magicians, comedians and dancers – with something for all the family.
This year, the festival is collaborating with Manchester Mind to raise funds for the charity that seeks to help and support those in the city struggling with mental health issues. Previous festivals have raised over £65,000 for local mental health charities, and donation points will be set up around the site for you to quickly and easily donate to the important cause.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £8.95 per day or £12.95 for the weekend and the festival will open its doors from 10am – 8pm on Saturday and 10am – 7pm on Sunday, with the markets expected to close around 5pm each day.
