Tucked away in a hidden corner of our city and housing some of Manchester’s most exciting food vendors, Escape To Freight Island have recently introduced some seriously good brunch offerings.

Day or night, there’s always plenty on there. Manchester’s industrial past has been reimagined as a forward-thinking destination for food, drink and culture, and we can’t get enough.

Now home to some of our city’s most up and coming food vendors including Patty Queen, Camden Town Brewery, Krum, Voodoo Rays and absolutely loads more, we couldn’t be more excited when we found out the guys down at the depot are now offering BRUNCH!

Now there are plenty of places to partake in a tipsy weekend brunch in Manchester, but nobody is doing it quite like Escape To Freight Island (primarily because the vibes are truly excellent)

Unlike anything else in the UK, the team have created a new urban environment where you can find your own space to escape.

Complete with a live DJ, an immense selection of drinks and cocktails, masses of open-air seating, outdoor heaters, plenty of friendly faces and the heartiest portions – you’ll never want to leave.

After hearing plenty of rave reviews about the brand new brunch offering, we headed over to see what all the fuss was about…

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a burger for my breakfast (and especially one that won’t break the bank).

One that’ll hit the spot for sure is the Patty Queen Breakfast Bun (£6.50) complete with double sausage patty, free-range egg, double American cheese, grilled potato, brioche bun, top & bottom ketchup.

Perfect with a side of Hash Brown Bites (£3) to accompany, I promise you’ll be full and you won’t even have to spend a tenner!

There’s also the Puttanesca Baked Eggs with super fresh Napoli sauce, artichoke hearts, nocellara olives and cherry tomato.

Don’t worry, I also couldn’t quite imagine what this would taste like when I read the menu – but my god am I glad I do now.

The baked eggs arrive perfectly runny with a side of soft and chewy grissini soldiers and are absolutely delicious.

The guys down at Escape To Freight Island have also got a range of tasty Grilled Flatbreads for you lot to get stuck into.

Here’s their Smashed Cannellini & Nduja Pizetta (£8) which we added a little poachie to for £1 extra because we’re greedy and also why the hell not.

Soft and super easy to tear and share, the flatbread comes stacked with smashed Cannellini bean, Nduja, Cumberland sausage, red onion, kale & Fior di Latte cheese and it’s bloody massive for the price (one to box it up and eat later for sure!)

Escape To Freight Island also has a load of breakfast cocktails on the menu, including their classic Mimosa and Bloody Mary.

We went for something a little different and opted for the Green Snapper (with gin, pineapple, lime, coriander, mint, white pepper, green Tabasco) which if I’m honest with you, blew our bloody heads off (it’s SPICY!).

All of these new dishes are available Saturday & Sunday from 10am to noon, get yourself booked in ASAP and get involved…
