You may have walked down King Street over the last year and spotted a rather lovely looking Virgin Money building and thought, ‘that’s a really nice bank’. Well, to set the record straight, it isn’t a bank at all – it’s the Virgin Money customer Lounge.

Virgin Money opened its Lounge in our fair city at 98 King Street nearly a year ago. The Lounge is free to use for Virgin Money (and previously Northern Rock) customers and their guests.

The Lounge is super comfortable and a welcoming space for customers and their guests to relax during the day (opening hours are 9am-5.30pm on Mon and Weds to Sat. 9.30am-5.30pm on Tues and 11am-4pm on Sun ). And on certain evenings, the Lounge is available to hold community events and meetings. It’s all part of Virgin Money’s ambition to make ‘Everyone Better Off’.

If you are an existing customer, my advice is to just pop into the Lounge and have a chat with the host at the door. If you bring along your Virgin Money product ID and some photographic ID they can get you registered instantly which means you’ll effectively have your own key to the Lounge. Absolutely brilliant! There’s decent coffee and a cracking tea selection as well as soft drinks, so you can forget queuing in a coffee shop and just sit back and relax to the sound of the grand piano.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Chief Executive at Virgin Money said: “The Virgin Money Lounge concept has been a big hit with customers in Edinburgh and Norwich, and now Manchester. Our Lounges are places where our customers and their guests can relax, and where local communities can meet. For over forty years Virgin has been going into established areas of business and showing just how much better things can be. We’re aiming to do the same for banking – to build a new kind of bank, one that people want to be part of.”
