Anyone who has been to New York, or indeed has ever watched Joey eat in Friends, knows that, over there – they don’t mess around when it comes to sandwiches.

Order a ‘hoagie’ or a ‘sub’ or a ‘hero’ and you’re going to get a massive slab of bread stuffed to breaking point with meat, cheese and pickles – and it’s amazing.

This type of Italian sandwich grew up in many different Italian-American communities throughout the Northeastern United States in the early 20th Century. With a huge influx of Italian immigrants onto the island, Manhattan became a hub of sandwich activity, which subsequently went out and conquered the rest of the country (and the world).

Which gets us on to Bada Bing Sandwich Deli, a new sandwich concept who are looking to begin delivery in Manchester within the next few weeks. Offering up a small but impressively authentic menu, plus the added excitement of regular specials which promise to be a bit more “experimental” and deviate somewhat from the usual Italian offerings.

The signature offering is THE BING – a huge sub stuffed with gabagool (Tony Soprano’s favourite salami), mortadella ham, Napoli salami, Soppressata (salami), Provolone cheese, lettuce, giardiniera (Italian relish of pickled vegetables) and mayo.

They’ve also made their own MEATBALL SUB (which is always the best option when in New York), the MUFFELETTA (with ham, smoked turkey, Milano salami and cheese) and a couple of vegan options; PAULIE WALNUTS (mushroom shawarma, artichokes, walnuts, rocket, balsamic caramelised onions, truffle mayo) and the ROAST CAULIFLOWER SUB (Italian roast cauliflower, pumpkin seed romesco, sweet pickled peppers, red onions and rocket).

They all sound bloody gorgeous – and we can’t wait to get our chops around them ALL.

It’s still early days yet, but Bada Bing will be looking to start their delivery service on the weekends very soon – hopefully migrating to daily deliveries after that.

Your best bet is to keep up to date by following their Instagram (below), where they’ll let you know when they’re kicking things off, and how you can order…
