Opening its doors on January 25th, The Counter House will be a health-led eatery located on the vibrant Cutting Room Square in Ancoats

The Counter House has been developed following a £750,000 investment from Manchester’s Behind The Counter, headed up by Joe Akka.

Serving food all day, every day, the menu will feature dishes such as plant-based Acai Bowls, Eggs Royale with white tea-smoked salmon and baked avocado wedges, Feta and Charred Baby Gem salad, with pickled watermelon and a chilli mango dressing, Bone Broth Beef Ramen and desserts such as Ricotta Pancakes with a berry compote and toasted almonds.

The bar menu offers a variety of smoothies, wellness shots and cold-pressed juices, including ‘The Allotment’ – apple, carrot, cucumber, spinach, kale, tomato, celery, parsley, beetroot, lemon and ginger. The Counter House will also be serving cocktails like ‘It’s Complicated’ with vodka, Grand Marnier, carrot juice, blood orange juice and honey.

An open kitchen will prominently feature in the 62 cover restaurant, overseen by head chef Jan Cron, who trained in the Michelin starred Alcron restaurant in Prague before working as a private chef and nutritional advisor across the UK.

Following a specific brief from Behind The Counter, the interiors have been designed by renowned hospitality designers Shed, and will feature a variety of recycled and reclaimed furnishings and textures, resulting in organic surroundings offering a warm and welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere.

Speaking of the opening, Joe said:

“We are all becoming much more aware of our general well-being and the importance nutrition plays in our state of health. It really is the perfect time for us to bring The Counter House to Manchester’s newest and most exciting neighbourhood, which has taken great strides in establishing itself as a vibrant and diverse food hotspot.

We also wanted to show our support for the ecological challenges our planet is facing in our design and have, where possible, incorporated reclaimed and recycled materials, in what we hope will feel like an earthy and organic space. Myself and the team are so very much looking forward to being able to share our creation with the City and welcoming all to The Counter House.”

The Counter House is the latest venture from Behind The Counter’s expanding Manchester portfolio and they have firm plans of taking the brand to other cities across the UK.
