First and foremost, let’s talk starters.
The ideal winter dish – the Red onion and Goat’s Cheese Tart is perfectly balanced. Served on a bed of rocket, orange and walnut – the tart is accompanied with a spiced wine glaze and drizzled with a tangy balsamic Vinaigrette.
Something a little different, the Salt and Pepper Mussels are a must for any seafood fan. Deliciously fresh and cooked with the perfect balance of ginger and chilli, the mussels are served with delicately crunchy rice crackers, sprout leaves, sesame seeds and a tangy soy gel.
Packed with flavour, this dish provides a refreshing start to any meal.
The Second Floor Bar and Brasserie has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options available, my favourite being the delectable Beetroot Spaghetti.
Served alongside generous chunks of chefs homemade vegan feta cheese and a homemade hummus dressing – providing the perfect balance of textures. I only wish they did this dish as a main!
The A La Carte mains are a real treat for anyone. Diners can enjoy the stunning Lamb Shank, served on a bed of soft minted crushed sweet potato with gremolata.
Perfectly cooked until tender, the juicy shank comes served alongside delicious curly kale and slides straight from the bone.
If you’re after something a little more classic – Harvey Nichols’ Fish and Chips is by far my favourite in the city centre. First of all, the portion size – it’s immense. Excellent value for money, the huge battered fish hides a bed of deliciously thick cut chips.
The Fish and Chips is served alongside delicious mint-infused crushed peas and a perfectly tangy homemade tartare sauce – ideal for dipping.
The Second Floor Bar and Brasserie has 3 types of locally sourced steak on offer, with each aged for 28 days from John Holcrofts Farm in Cheshire.
Choose from 8oz Sirloin, 8oz Rib-eye or 7oz Tuna steak – each served with fresh watercress, deliciously crisp french fries and a choice of herb butter or green peppercorn sauce.
Lightly spiced, the peppercorn sauce has a subtle punch and there’s no sparing on the portion size.
For dessert, diners can enjoy the exquisite Mont Blanc Baked Alaska. Flamed in the kitchen and served with a sweet chestnut puree – the solid meringue insulates a soft and sweet vanilla ice cream.
Also on the dessert menu is a deconstructed White Chocolate Cheesecake (a unanimous favourite from the Finest team).
Served with soft poached clementine and shards of sweet biscuit – the perfect accompaniment to the white chocolate topping.
