Since opening in the NQ in 2014, Federal have been continuously serving up their famous NZ-style eggs, coffees, loose leaf teas, beers, cocktails and loads more and now owners Claudio and Emily want to do more!
Inspired by the regular queues forming outside the tiny NQ site, they went out to find a new (and bigger site) and it looks like Deansgate fits the bill perfectly.
In a light, airy space, close to the business hub of Spinningfields, Claudio and Emily have designed an interior perfect for brunching, lunching, meeting and working, with a fresh, varied menu to match.
The new cafe & bar will serve all of Federal’s classic dishes and treats including their signature pastel de nata and coffees with their carefully chosen ‘Hodson’ blend from New Zealand Roasters, Ozone.
Beans from Colombia, Guatemala and Ethiopia combine to deliver chocolate and citrus tones, promising fruit, balance, complexity and sweetness.
At 35 covers including a couple of window perches, the new site promises the same laid back style of the Northern Quarter venue, with a beautiful cork fronted bar reminiscent of Claudio’s native Portugal and a little more space than their famously small but perfectly formed NQ space.
Speaking about the new opening, the Ribeiro’s said: “We’ve been so humbled by the reception we’ve had so far in Northern Quarter, the fact we have queues forming outside every weekend is such a huge compliment to us and our fantastic team.
Our customer service is so important to us and we aim to bring that with us from the NQ, we know we can offer the warmest welcome alongside great coffee.”
“We’ve had so many comments since we opened 4 years ago asking when we’re going to open a second that we had no choice but to start looking around. After a couple of sites we liked the look of, this one came along and we knew it was perfect. It’s taken a couple of months to get here but now we can see the end, we can’t wait to get the doors open.”
Open from 7am every weekday and 8am on weekends, Federal Deansgate will open its doors on Friday 12th April.
