Withington’s newest addition is certainly a child of lockdown. Without the last three months of everywhere being closed, the complete transformation of Solomons just would never have happened. But with plenty of time and no restrictions on reopening – the men behind the venture have created something very special indeed.
Looking to offer Withington a clear alternative to a trip into the city centre, Southside is the brainchild of original Solomons owners Rupert Cade, Rick McClean and new man on the scene – Lyndon Higginson – well-known proprietor of city centre favourites Crazy Pedro’s, Bunny Jackson’s and Wolf at the Door.
When lockdown was announced all the way back in March it gave the fellas time and space in which to completely re-invent the space – opening up the bar area, adding booth seating at the back and making an impressive terrace out back.
Not only that but they’ve opened up downstairs to provide loads more seating, and another bar, which will certainly come in handy when they open next week. Oh and they’ll be opening up until 2am EVERY NIGHT – perfect for those after work messy ones that go a little bit too far.
By then they’ll have one of the best TEQUILA selections in the country, as well as serve up a range of TACOS from their newly refurbished kitchen.
In such uncertain times its good to see that there’s a positive coming out of lockdown and I think you’ll agree – they’ve done a great job with the place.
Southside Tequila Joint will be opening on Wednesday 8th July at 5pm. No need to book, just turn up!
