Flat Iron, the steakhouse chain where you carve up your dinner with mini meat cleavers, is set to open on Deansgate in the early summer, it’s been confirmed.
It’ll be setting up shop in the unit left vacant by the Blacks outdoors store, in the Grade II-listed building that was originally the Royal London Friendly Society pension and investment company.
The chain, whose slogan is ‘great steak for everyone’, prides itself on delivering good steak at reasonable prices – a piece of flat iron (feather steak, sometimes known as ‘butler’s steak, from the shoulder) will cost you £14, with beef dripping chips at an extra £4.
They also serve a bearnaise cheeseburger at £13, Scottish bavette steak at £17 and specials like wagyu steak at varying market prices, while sides include creamed spinach, truffled macaroni cheese and crispy bone marrow garlic mash.
Founded by restaurateur Charlie Carroll, who is originally from Manchester, it has 14 outlets in the UK – 12 in London, and two more in Cambridge and Leeds.
Speaking of the opening, Flat Iron’s Founder, Charlie Carroll says: “Opening a restaurant in my home town of Manchester is a big deal to me and a long time coming.
“The food and drink scene is so exciting at the moment and just keeps getting better. I can’t wait to be a tiny part of it.
“I fell in love with a beautiful historic building on Deansgate in 2018 and 6 years on we are finally opening this summer. Flat Iron is about unpretentious, top quality steak, available to all.
