If you still haven’t made any plans for dad this Father’s Day, you might want to stick a trip to Freight Island in your diary. This Sunday, the alfresco food hall is hosting an all-day party complete with a star-studded line-up of DJs, barbecued street food and family entertainment.
Taking over the decks at the ‘Better Days’ party is a line-up of bands and international DJs that will most likely be found in your dad’s CD rack. Hot Chip’s frontman Alexis Taylor offers his eclectic mix of electro, dance and Hot Chip hits, alongside the legendary DJ Fat Tony, Raw Silk, Scarlett O’Malley, and Freight Island’s residents.
Alongside the music, Freight will have all of its usual food and drink from the incredible local traders found inside and outside the food hall. Grab award-winning burgers from Burgerism, slow-smoked food from Smoking Coal, 22-inch pizzas from Voodoo Rays, Italian-style slabs, subs and sides from the team at Lazy Tony’s and loads more.
The warm weather is looking to stay this weekend, too, which means a cold pint of lager in the sun is a must for dad. Lucky for him, Freight Island has a number of bars across its venue offering freshly poured pints of ale, as well as cocktails, spirits and softs if he’s delicate after an extended weekend of celebrations.
Father’s ‘Better’ Day at Freight Island runs from 12-10pm this Sunday. You can book free tickets via the link below.
