Good News Everyone… It’s Street Food Change-Over Time at Hatch

It doesn’t come as a surprise that I am into my food. It is literally all I think about and all I want to talk about. I love trying new dishes and new places, but my only vice is that I get bored pretty quickly and work myself up into a hunger-induced sulk.

See, this is where Hatch is my proverbial Knight in shining armour. They have a number of units for street food traders, and they offer short-term residencies to keep things fresh. This gives us a fantastic opportunity to try new things, and more importantly, keeps us going back again and again. Smart- I like it.

Right now at Hatch, you can find the following food retailers:

Mama Z
Mama Z is Filipino street food at its finest. You can expect beautiful noodle dishes, aromatic curries, the crispiest spring rolls you have ever tasted and everything in-between.  Mama Z brings a little slither of Manila to the windows at Hatch, and her dishes are packed with flavours and textures that are completely unique here in Manchester.

Wok’s Cluckin’
Sticking with the Asian vibe, we have Wok’s Clucking who arrived at Hatch in late July. Their food is Pan-Asian, and I hear their signature dish is the Korean Fried Chicken with rice/skinny chips, kimchi and Gochujang sauce- which quite frankly has Kate Tighe written all over it. I haven’t had a chance to go down and try these guys yet, but let me tell you, I cannot wait to get over there and get stuck into one… with chips of course!

T’Arricrii

In a nutshell, this is Sicilian street-food at its best. T’Arricrii does Arancio (deep-fried risotto balls) with various fillings such as beef ragu, nduja sausage, or spinach and asparagus just to name a few. They also have fresh juices made from Sicilian fruits and sweet treats In the form of conolos which are deep-fried tubes of pastry which are filled with your choice of pistachio or chocolate cream- which are utterly to die for.

Food Me!
Joining Mama Z, T’Arricrii and Woks Cluckin will be vegan and plant-based specialists Food Me! Food Me offers plant-based vegan food serving up delicious and hearty dishes – absolutely spot on for Autumn. Fresh, warming soups, and big, vibrant mains like Autumn Cous Cous and Lentil Chilli will be dished up alongside beautiful fresh pressed juices such as ‘Dance to the Beet’ and blended smoothies like ‘Macalicious’. Food Me opens Thursday 6th September.
