Not content with conquering Reddish, and with a great little spot in Hatch in the city centre, I Knead Pizza are still on the look out for their forever home.
A restaurant worthy of their customers – somewhere spacious and comfortable – and it looks like they’ve found the perfect spot in Heaton Chapel.
Opening up their restaurant in Reddish back in 2019, I Knead Pizza had already been serving outstanding Neapolitan pizzas for 4 years with delivery. When COVID hit, they found themselves (like most) taking full advantage of a massive increase in deliveries and collection, thus doubling their kitchen and losing most of their capacity.
Since then, they’ve opened up a couple of dark kitchens and a street food unit in Hatch on Oxford Road, but they’ve always wanted a proper restaurant space – where they can serve up their restaurant-quality pizzas alongside a range of Italian small plates, cocktails, great beers and Prosecco brunches.
Luckily they’ve managed to find the perfect space in Heaton Chapel, taking over the old Donatello’s unit on the A6 – a firm favourite in the area that had been there for the last 30 years, and sadly closed in 2021.
The team have the lease and have begun work on the site, investing £90k of their own funds into it, but they’re looking for another £50k to help pay for the renewal of the building.
Therefore they’ve set up a Kickstarter, looking for customers to ‘pay it forward‘ and buy a voucher that will entitle them to an offer when they open (hopefully) in August this year.
For example, a pledge of £40 or more will get you a 3-course lunch or dinner for two people, or a pledge of £1000 or more will get you PIZZA FOR A YEAR! Yep, you’ll get 365 pizzas throughout the year (worth £3285).
The Kickstarter still has well over a month to go, but don’t dilly dally – this is a fantastic opportunity for one of Manchester’s very best independent operators – and will be a valuable addition to Heaton Chapel itself.
