One of Manchester’s favourite boozers has been named among the top 50 gastropubs in the whole of the UK.
Ancoats’ very own Edinburgh Castle has made it onto the shortlist for the coveted Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs, the results of which will be announced in January.
It’s the first time that a city centre pub has made it onto the list, though a few other well-known foodie destinations nearby have also made the cut, among them The Freemasons at Wiswell, The Pack Horse in Hayfield and The White Swan at Fence, near Burnley.
The list also unsurprisingly features The Parkers Arms, near Clitheroe, which deservedly scooped the number one spot last year.
Edinburgh Castle chef Shaun Moffat told Finest: “The whole team is pretty elated with the nomination over here. Its a great culmination of the work we’ve put in since the reopening of the kitchen just over a year ago.
“I’d be lying if I said we weren’t working toward to it so it’s a nice win for us. I believe we’re the only pub in Manchester to be nominated, showing that the Manchester food scene is pushing forward and the fact we’ve been nominated shows a wonderful amount of support.
“Proud to be part of the same list as some superb gaffs like the Parker’s Arms and The Pack Horse. Thanks to judges for their nomination and let’s see where January places us.”
