Opening their doors on the very last day of 2020, in the middle of a worldwide pandemic (and UK lockdown), Bloom Café on Deansgate probably didn’t receive the fanfare that most places that open in the city centre do.
In fact, this place could be considered one of the city’s best hidden gems, even though it’s located on one of the busiest streets in Manchester. An independent café that specialises in CBD-infused drinks and goodies, loose teas, cakes, pastries and a dedicated all day brunch and lunch menu that caters to vegans and vegetarians alike.
Upon visiting Bloom, it’s hard not to be impressed with the sheer range of teas, coffees, and soft drinks available – there’s literally everything you’ve ever heard of on here.
Turmeric Latte with Coconut Milk? Double Macchiato? Large Cappuccino with a 20mg CBD Shot?
They do it all here, and you may have noticed the ‘CBD’ bit – as Bloom Café have a particular fondness for the wonder-ingredient, advocates of the many physical and mental health benefits of the it.
Sitting alongside the CBD products, the hand-crafted coffee and loose leaf teas, Bloom Café have a dedicated menu of brunch and lunch classics, from Crushed Avocado on Toasted Sourdough (£9) to Eggs Benedict (£9.50) and their Halloumi & Roasted Pepper Burger (£10.50).
There’s also a menu of VEGAN dishes, such as their stacked Breakfast Pancakes (£7) topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries and maple syrup, the Blooming Shroom Burger (£9) and the Blooming Vegan (£11) Full English Breakfast – made with vegan sausages, garlic mushrooms, beans and ‘bacon’ rashers made out of smoked carrot slices.
Cakes are supplied by local Ancoats baker LOAF MCR, as well as a range of Blondies, Brownies, Cookie Dough Slabs and Pastries all made in-house.
One of the city’s best-kept secrets, Bloom Café is well worth a visit – relaxed, slick and with a truly exceptional food and drink offering. Everything you could ever want from a city centre café – and more.
