Right well I’ve just about calmed down enough from last night to give the low down on El Gato Negro’s long awaited debut. There were overtures about omelettes, spilt sherrys and I’m pretty sure I remember piling cheesecake into my gob with my fingers at one point. Fair to say there were a few people getting rather excited, and that was just on our table.

It was all for good reason though, breaths been bated in Manchester and beyond since Simon Shaw announced he was bringing his brand of modern Spanish food over the Pennines. The pictures of an elegant fit out that emerged earlier this week no doubt whet the appetite even further, and I’ll let the snaps do the talking once again. This time with mine from last night, memories of what was a quite magnificent meal.

So you can probably see what all the fuss is about now then. Doors to the King Street site open to punters on Monday 22nd February, and El Gato Negro looks well set to be the hot ticket for your hot dinner this Spring in the city.
