Anyone who, like myself, has spent the last few months hibernating in Chorlton will have noticed the new cosy, covered terrace at The Beagle, a welcome shield from the elements over the winter. There’s also now a revamped menu based on Southern Californian street food flavours on offer, so we went to go check it out.

More famed for their extensive selection of beers, The Beagle do a mean cocktail too and so to kick things a margarita hits the spot. We then enjoyed some sharers in the form of crunchy chicken strips, courgette wings and the star of the show delicious deep fried pickles.

Up next were some cracking soft tacos, we picked over shrimp, fried fish, tofu and braised chili beef. They were all ideal pub snacks, the beef was nice and tender, seafood fresh and tofu an unexpected crowd pleaser.

I can see the usual 5pm stampede for a seat in the sunshine will be on again this summer at The Beagle.

We also tried 3 of the new main dishes beginning with tasty pulled pork topped nachos that impressed. Up next was super succulent beef chilli served in a crispy taco bowl with rice and finally a bucket of home slice chicken, fries and dips and slaw.

Now the weather’s warming up those new doors on the terrace are getting thrown open and with those spicy vibes coming from the kitchen they’re defintely on to a winner.
