On Wednesday 15th June, GRUB is hosting a competition for those with a true tolerance for dangerously spicy food.
The event is in collaboration with Devildog sauces, who specialise in deliciously hot condiments handmade in small batches, using the best ingredients that combine a wide array of chillies to create sauces that suit all tastes and tolerances.
For this event, Devildogs are creating a brand-new ‘Death by Momo’ hot sauce that’s going to be one of their spiciest yet – and The Momo Boii’s Momos will be doused in the tastebud tingling dressing.
Momos are a popular Nepalese steamed dumpling style dish, with a common filling of either beef or pork, with fresh cheese and vegetables often mixed in, too.
The Momo Boii’s are a North West-based business specialising in Nepalese street food. Beginning their journey in February this year, founder, Nanny is particularly passionate about Momos and he now sells the delicacy at various foodie markets across the city.
There are two types of tickets available for this event, you can either be a participator (£20pp) or a spectator (£6pp). If you choose the participator option you’ll be subjected to the spicy momo eating competition, which includes all the spicy momos you dare to eat.
The momos will be eaten over five rounds and all momos and the accompanying sauce must be eaten in order to progress to win. All momos served in the competition will be suitable for vegans.
If you’re just up for spectating, and we really don’t blame you, your ticket will include one small portion of either chicken or vegan cauliflower momos to eat on arrival OR one bottle of the special edition DevilDog Death By Momo sauce to take home.
Alongside the momo eating challenge, there’ll also be GRUB’s usually array of wonderful street food traders available – so make sure you get down early to sample some of the North West’s best independent food and drink businesses.
