With Thomas Street being closed off to pedestrians for the foreseeable future, the bars and restaurants on that stretch of the Northern Quarter have become the new go-to spots for people hoping to get back to normal after 3 months on lockdown.
Cane & Grain have secured themselves a rather large terrace outside, and to celebrate their opening they’ve launched a brand-new menu – one which offers to go “back to basics” and do what they’ve become known for – but really, really well.
So they’ve stripped it all back and it’s now all about their ribs, burgers and sides – giving them more time to concentrate on making them the best in the city – and after a visit this afternoon – they’ve completed it for sure.
Now split into 3 distinct sections, the menu features ‘MEAT‘, ‘BURGERS‘ and ‘BITES and SIDES‘. Looking at the MEAT section and you’ll be treated to their Classic St. Louis trimmed Belly Ribs (Small – £9, Large – £16) and their HUGE Short Ribs (1 bone – £11, 3 bone – £30), both smoked for 12 hours so they literally melt off the bone.
They’re also offering up Jumbo Chicken Wings (3 for £4, 6 for £7) that have been smoked for 3 hours.
BURGER fans will be pleased to know that they’re still offering their excellent Bacon Cheese Burger (£11), Chicken Burger (£10) and their excellent vegan offerings (Beyond Burger and Not Chicken Burger – both £10)
Finally – BITES and SIDES includes their classic Mac & Cheese (£5), Corn on the Cob (£3.50), Padron Peppers (£5) and their Truffle Poutine (£4) which is quite honestly – outstanding.
So they’ve made it much simpler – so they can ensure that the food is always of the highest quality – and tastes the best that it can. I must attest that after a visit today to get these images you see before you – they’ve certainly upped their game considerably during lockdown. Get yourself down for officially the Best Ribs in the City ASAP.
