Starting life as a pop up in a local pub, Hyssop hasn’t traded in its charm for a place in the Michelin Guide, it’s earned it.

Now you’ll find the restaurant sitting right in the heart of Glossop’s high street, offering a small plates menu that showcases the best seasonal and local ingredients on offer.

Its cocktail menu is diverse, surprising guests with its own, personal takes on some of the classics, whilst also offering a huge selection of premium gins that explore flavours such as lemon drizzle, blood orange and blackberry.

It makes sense to arrive at the venue early to enjoy a cocktail or two before heading upstairs to dine. Hyssop’s well-judged dishes are divided up into Sea, Land and Earth sections, each consisting of their own creative dishes with masterful flavours.

The Sea dishes include Oysters with a citrus dressing, Tandoori Cod with onion bhaji and butter curry sauces and Gin Cured Salmon – a dish showing plenty of skill.

The Land options consist of dishes such as Spiced Venison Tartare and a Char Sui Bacon Sandwich and the Earth selections show a creative approach to vegetarian cooking, too.

Plates such as the Salt Baked Celeriac and the Tandoori Cauliflower are the stars of the show that keep people coming back for more. And if you’re not sure where to start, the super friendly service team know the menu inside out and will guide you in the right direction.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate their spot in the guide, Hyssop said: “All of our blood, sweat and tears have been so worth it, especially as today marks two years since ‘Rona shut us down for a short while.

“We can’t say anything else other than the biggest EVER thank you to all of our incredible Hyssop Team and our ever incredible Hyssop Customers. We would not be here without you all.”
