As we welcome 2025, we also welcome a whole crop of new bars, restaurants, hatches, delis, theme bars and kebab joints to the fold.

Get out and support some of these great new additions to the Greater Manchester food scene this month.

Bruk

Another drinking establishment on the Stockport Underbanks, Bruk joins the likes of Odioba and Mo6b on the trendy pub and bar crawl route of SK1. There will be good drinks and DJs and the like.

Cooper’s Pantry – Open now

Recently opened up in Urmston, Cooper’s Pantry is a family-run deli with everything from groceries to fresh sandwiches and pastries, not to mention wine evenings and other cosy socials.

Crüst Pizza Co. – Open now

Conceived in a horse box, Crüst are now serving up their excellent Neapolitan pizza out of an industrial unit behind the Lamborghini and Maserati garages in Stockport. Which kind of fits the whole Italian vibe to a tee.

Definitely Maybe – Open now

Taking the place of the old Blackdog Ballroom, underneath Affleck’s, this place is a shrine to the Gallagher brothers (the owners also happen to be called Gallagher, though are no relation). Though without pavement seating, you might struggle to get a pint in the sunsheeeinnne, come the summer months.

Earl’s – Open now

Bringing the neighbourhood bar experience to Bolton, Earl’s opened at the tail end of December, bringing with it coffee, bakes, natural wine and all the mid-century decor and orange lighting you could dream of. In the evening you can expect vinyl DJs (playing vinyl, not made of it) and cocktails, and in the New Year they’ll be launching their brunch menu and sarnies too. Bolton – we see what you’re doing. And we’re interested.

German Doner Kebab Bolton – Open now

Continuing its plans for world domination, German Doner Kebab will be bringing its Berlin-inspired sandwiches to Bolton. OK it’s a chain, but there’s no denying that it’s a top flight bab.

Hello Oriental Trafford Centre – Open late January

Now you’ll be able to get some of the best Chinese, Thai, Hong Kong, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Korean and Taiwanese dishes all under one roof. Well, under two technically. Hello Oriental is opening a second site, at the Trafford Centre, and we’re very much here for punctuating a hectic shopping trip with a heap of BBQ meats. Bring it on.

Moose Coffee Media City – Open now

Moose prides itself on its US and Canadian-style breakfasts – and a very decent cup of ‘Joe’, as they say Stateside. This new spot should fill the bellies of the folk of Salford and Media City with pancakes, waffles and sausage, just as it has in the city centre.

Nomad – Open now

A brand new spot for coffee in the Northern Quarter, Nomad will be offering great brews (from Castlefield’s indie roastery ManCoCo), sandwiches and pastries, and the like, from its walk-up spot on Lever Street. It’s open from 7.30am daily to kick start your day.

Oxford Road Tap – Open now

Collecting stations like Monopoly, the folks behind the Victoria and Piccadilly Taps have now set up shop at Oxford Road, serving up excellent craft beers from around the region and well beyond. Worth missing your train for. And maybe the next one too.

That Burger Place Bury – Open now

A long last, That Burger Place has opened up another outlet in Bury, following its spots in Walkden and Salford. A frequent contender in the National Burger Awards, you’ll struggle to find a better smashed number than their California Dreaming, their finalist sandwich in the NBAs.

Yum Cha Altrincham – Open now

After opening up in 2022 at Kampus, Merseyside-born Yum Cha has been stuffing us full of dumplings and dim sum. Truly doing God’s work. Now they’re doing it in Altrincham too, in the newly opened Stamford Quarter, so expect more baos, roasted meats and, of course, parcels of joy.
